Overview

A secure and trusted communication infrastructure is fundamental for law enforcement operations. From safeguarding sensitive investigative data to enabling secure communication across agencies and borders, resilient networks are critical for maintaining operational continuity.

From 24-26 February 2026, the Europol Industry and Research Days 2026 brought together over 300 participants from across Europe at the Europol HQ in The Hague. The event convened law enforcement practitioners, researchers and private-sector innovators to exchange knowledge and explore solutions addressing emerging operational challenges. This year’s event featured 40 selected technology providers presenting their solutions, following an evaluation process conducted by Europol’s Operational Centres and Innovation Lab. Among them, Q*Bird, as the only provider of quantum secure communication technology, was thrilled to demonstrate during Day 2, Theme 4: Sovereign Cloud Solutions and Quantum Resistant Technologies.

Our Q*Birders demonstrated live how Q*Bird’s Falqon® Series, powered by Measurement-Device-Independent Quantum Key Distribution (MDI-QKD), introduces a physics-based security layer designed to complement existing cybersecurity frameworks and enable secure, multipoint-to-multipoint communication across complex multi-agency environments.

The exchanges throughout the sessions highlighted growing interest in future-proof communication technologies capable of protecting sensitive operational communication and supporting trusted information sharing across European law enforcement networks.

Special thanks to the organisers at Europol and all participants for the discussions and exchanges throughout the sessions!
