Q*Bird was thrilled to join QCrypt 2026, the world’s leading international conference dedicated to quantum cryptography, taking place from 24-28 August 2026 in Ottawa, Canada. Bringing together industry pioneers, technology innovators, policymakers and researchers from across the global quantum community, QCrypt provided a platform to exchange the latest advances in science and real-world deployment of quantum secure communications.
Our CTO, Dr. Joshua Slater, contributed to the conference programme by chairing two sessions spanning invited and contributed research at the forefront of quantum communication. The first session brought together invited talks exploring new frontiers in quantum communication, including “Quantum communication takes to the skies” by Prof. Paul G. Kwiat, University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and “Quantum communication with ultrafast time-Bin encoding” by Dr. Duncan England, National Research Council of Canada.
Dr. Joshua also chaired a contributed talks session featuring research across emerging approaches to quantum communication and QKD, including reference-beam attacks against OIL-based Twin-Field QKD, continuous-variable quantum communication over hybrid channels and high-performance photonic receivers for quantum information processing. Across the week, QCrypt explored developments ranging from security proofs and quantum cryptographic protocols to practical QKD implementations, integrated photonics, free-space quantum communication and the infrastructure required to scale quantum networks.
